What is the TAPPAN directory?

The TAPPAN directory allows Oberlin College alumni to update their personal information and look up fellow alumni. TAPPAN is password protected and is accessible only to Oberlin students, alumni, and staff.

Is the TAPPAN directory secure?

Only you can access and update your personal information. Other Oberlin alumni and staff can view your directory information via a password-protected login. Areas of the website containing private information are located on a secure server utilizing Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption. You can limit what information appears to other alumni utilizing the hide checkboxes in your profile.

Can I remove my information from the TAPPAN directory?

You can choose to remove any or all contact information from the TAPPAN directory. The only information that cannot be removed is your name, class year and degree information.

How much of my information can other alumni see?

You choose how much information you want other alumni to see. To keep members’ records as up-to-date as possible, we ask that you fill out all the fields. You can then click the “Hide” checkboxes next to fields you would like to hide from public view.

Can I select Contact Preferences?

You can choose your email, phone and address preferences. For example, you may wish all emails to be directed to your personal email address, but you may prefer to receive mail at work instead of home.  You can edit your contact preferences here.

How can I contact other alumni by email?

At the bottom of each user's profile is a link labeled "Send this person a message directly." Clicking this link will open a form where you can type and send your message. You can also provide an email address for the recipient to send a reply.
