TAPPAN Network

Privacy Policy

The Oberlin Alumni Association and Oberlin College (together, the “College”) are committed to preserving the privacy of students, alumni, staff, and other users of the TAPPAN Network.

This site has password-protected, secure areas that enable users to connect with each other. Services included are the alumni directory, profile management for updating and submitting contact and other information, e-mail lists, and message boards.

The alumni directory offers the ability for all alumni to suppress publication of their data on a field-by-field basis except for first name, last name, degrees and degree years.

This directory is for official College use and also for individual communication of a personal nature between members listed herein. Use of this directory for any other purpose, including but not limited to, reproducing and storing in a retrieval system by any means, electronic or mechanical; photocopying; or using the addresses or other information contained in this directory for any private, commercial or political mailing is strictly prohibited.

The information on this site will not be used for any commercial or philanthropic purpose not directly connected with or approved by the College; nor will copies be made; nor will the original information or facsimile be given, lent, or sold to any other individual or organization.

The use of cookies is limited to store an active login session to enhance the experience of the visitor who goes back and forth between the public and the private, password-protected area of the site. We do not store personal preferences, personal information or pages visited on the site in cookies.

When a TAPPAN Network user subscribes to an e-mail list or provides an e-mail address for other purposes, his or her e-mail address is recorded. That address is used for sending out future mailings via e-mail. That address may also be used for general announcements. The e-mail address of a subscriber will never be disclosed to a third party.

Neither the College nor any of its agents, employees, and sub-contractors, including Publishing Concepts (PCI), shall be liable for claims, losses, demands or damages (whether such claims, loss, demands or damages were foreseeable, known, or otherwise) arising out of or in connection with the use of the TAPPAN Network website or information, content, or materials included on the TAPPAN Network website.
